Victorian era cut steel earrings, with tear drop tassels. Beautifully preserved with a bright gray sparkle. Circa 1840, English in Origin.

 

Cut steel was used as a remarkably effective substitution for rose cut diamonds. Its popularity endured well into the 19th century as the subdued color was considered appropriate for second stage mourning adornment.
